How about that time last Friday I couldn’t wait for Jon to get home to show him Jack’s new Llama costume + he couldn’t wait to get home to show Rigg his new 4 wheeler!!
He surprised all of us.
I would have blown the cover for sure, so it’s best he didn’t tell ANY of us. HA!
We weren’t planning on going camping, but we couldn’t help it.
The mountains were calling. NATURALLY.
We have been camping the last several weekends.
Cramming in as much as we can before the snow arrives.
We CANNOT GET ENOUGHHHH of our beautiful state.
It’s cheesy, but true:
I could watch Jon be a dad all day long every day.
He’s the fun one, the adventurous one,
the one scheming up a 4 wheeler before next weekend.
Jack tipped out of this chair a solid handful of times.
If that face doesn’t say KING CHEDDA nothing ever will.
Only one Milo Grace Champlin.
Stomping grandpa’s pillow,¬†inviting allllllll the bugs + mosquitos.
Oh hey, Heart EXPLOSION. Grandpa doesn’t know this, but we are going camping in a couple of weekends for his suprise party!
One more mindblowing matter of business aside from the view of this lake:
THE FACT THAT I HAVE NEVER TAKEN THE MANTUA EXIT IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.
I grew up in Logan + have passed it who knows how many times?
Every time we left the Valley.
Every time we came back home.
Jonah has been documenting the Summer on his Ipad.
I find it interesting the things he gets it out for.
This stop was definitely one of them.
PS: If you’re interested in our exact campsite, let me know! ūüôā I can have Jon google map you some coordinates.¬†xx
alternative¬†caption:“Headed back-to-school for the first time. The¬†real thing”¬†
I thought preschool was hard, I didn’t realize what I was in for Kindergarten.
Jonah is tough + more than ready — I have to pretend I am, for his sake.¬†He did 2 years of preschool + his first year, I learned a valuable lesson that I¬†won’t forget no matter how much I want to.
He was (always has been) the most kind, biggest helper I could ever imagined he’d be. We did a Co-Op preschool his first year. He had a freakin hip yellow backpack (that I very much ordered for myself), a smile on his face + an extra skip in his step with his fresh kicks tied up right. But the wind left my sails real quick when I realized he was¬†the only one¬†in his class without a character shirt OR a fun backpack. I’ve never forgot how that felt inside as a mother. I don’t think he noticed right off the bat, but man alive, who AM I? Controlling fashion obsessed mom. Hey Ginger, let your kids live already.
Clothes don’t define us. I know this. We all know this. I believe it with my whole heart. Each of us are welcome to do/dress our children however we’d like. Or they’d like. I needed to experience my heart sink first hand¬†to really step back + let him be HIM. Why would I squash that? Taking the focus off of what we wear has been healing for all of us. I’m starting to get used to the new view + starting to enjoy what it’s been replaced with.
We went school shopping together¬†this year + I listened to his requests. Although he enjoys a good pack of solid tee’s just like I do, he also beams with excitement when the Pokemon covered tee gets the green light. He¬†still doesn’t believe I’m actually going to buy it. Haha. Yes, I’m sure I’ll always cringe a bit when he puts it on, I’m pretty sure I always will, but his heart is growing + so is mine!
Long story short, J man chose every last bit¬†of his outfit for the first big day + will be doing so every¬†year to come. ūüôā Proud of this stud muffin. Light up bling hero backpack + all.
Every once in a while I think I to myself, HEY I can be a fashion blogger. I love shopping! Then I post an Instagram story that says ready for a “GPARRISH FUN FACT” + straight up leave everyone¬†¬†HANGIN. Like, wait, what? Commitment freaks me out.
We are officially moved into our town home. For now! We are very¬†excited to bring you¬†along with us as we build our dream home — but are happy to be settled right here in between until we have our plans finalized. We are partnering with Breyers as we find our footing, get our ducks in a row + make time to have an awesome¬†Ice Cream party as we wait for our home to be built!
Kim + Jeff tied the knot at Sleepy Ridge Golf Course last weekend. This family wedding WAS A BLAST. We love these guys so dang much! It’s always a party when¬†all the family is in the same place. The food was incredible, the dancing was top notch + the cousin time was “the best night of my life” as per jonah’s tired mouth.¬†
We’re moving¬†next week. Will I ever be ready? Taking a break from packing so I’ll share some of my favorite items from Childhoods new release + a few favorite podcasts that I’m into right now! How does that sound?!
I came home from dinner¬†last night with Bre to a new family code that “can’t ever be broken until the end of time”. ¬†I had nothing to do with this family code — yet I support it with every fiber of my being.
PARRISH FAMILY CODE
Respect others, Take care of your brothers, Never lie to your mother.
Jon is the very very best dad for our little family.¬†I love his heart + the way he’s making respect a priority in our home. I hope the boys turn out EXACTLY like him. Aren’t they¬†lucky I convinced him to marry me? ūüôā
We’ve had our pop up trailer for a month or so now? Maybe a bit longer, but HELLO, best investment so far as parents! HANDS DOWN. ¬†Fresh air, warm beds, Jonah’s campfire stories + PB&Js sure¬†making me smile tonight.
All the camp sites we were planning on staying in for Fathers Day were full by Friday afternoon, so we faced a bit of an adventure head on + stumbled upon a gold mine while we were at it. WHO KNEW THIS BEAUTY EXISTED IN OUR BACKYARD? Utah, you pretty! Real, real prettttty.
5 quick memories before I gush over how obsessed we are with Jon for Fathers Day:
1. Squashing all 4 of us onto one motorcycle | 2 for 2 riders falling asleep
2. Conversations about each of the kids on said motorcycle ride
3. Meditating in the most serene place. My heart was overflowing. Still is.
4. Jack listening to his voice all the way up the canyon, all the way back. His mind will be BLOWN when we take him on a rumble strip in the mini.
5. Whittier’s¬†joining us for lunch + motorcycles!
Our gold tea pot + his little romper.
5 quick sours to remind you exactly how normal our life is:
1. I forgot the bag with the cheese + marshmallows. “ohhh you guys love egg only omelets, remember? …wait, can they even be called omelets¬†with just one ingredient…..?¬†
2. the egg carton disintegrated in the cooler of melted ice
3. cold sore from H E DOUBLE
4. jack biffed it off the chair after his watermelon was gone. #bloodynose
5. camp fire laundry
Wanted to throw on a few phone snaps because this place is too GREAT to forget!
I think I’ll save the ranting as to why Jon is the best dad in all the land — for his Fathers Day¬†card. But it feels good to be ahead of the game on a post for once! Huzzah!¬†Happy Fathers Day weekend! xx
WE MADE IT!
After a long day of traveling + a night without sleep, we made it to Clearwater Beach Florida!
The boys are in heaven to say the least!
Not only is the sand WHITE, the Ocean is warm in Clearwater Beach Florida.
We can’t wait to dive into the community here at the Wyndham Grand + bring you right along with us!
Cooking hasn’t always been my strong suit.
I stick to the basics + pride myself on my world record clean up timing. Ha!
Jon knew this + still married me.
But I made a goal to conquer my cooking fear this year + HelloFresh has been the checkmate move in doing so. ¬†So I thought I’d share our HelloFresh review with you.
Jon + I had a little red sofa in our bedroom when we were first married. But five years + three kids later, that sweet little couch was replaced with a baby crib long ago. Thanks to Jonathan Louis Furniture, we’ve taken our master bedroom back to its roots + brightened it back up a bit for Spring! Hashtag: Oh Happy Freakin’ Day! Our new couch makes me smile so big every time I see it. We’ve already made¬†a plethora of memories in our new little nook.
New Couch time worth noting:
JON: discard child pile during after-work wrestles
GING: played ‘get to know your leaders’ with the sweet young women.
JONAH: learning how to tie his shoes here
RIGG: calling every front flip he does a back flip | far left cushion is hiding place of choice
JACK: propped up in the corner with his legs crossed just hanging out #likeaboss
I love that we¬†don’t have a TV in our room anymore, it leaves more time for play.¬†Please please please bless Rigg never grows out of his camera/picture taking obsession. He takes it very seriously.
I’m the most indecisive decorator alive so Jonathan Louis Furniture‚Äôs¬†600+ fabric swatch options about did me in. ūüôā But also won me over forever because it guarantees the best of the best custom fit/style for each + every space. Ding Ding Ding!! It was important for me to find something textured enough to withstand six¬†sticky hands from three busy kiddos, but comfortable enough to nap on Sundays in the window sunshine.¬†I went as light as I possibly could on the fabric for our new couch, but still allotted some forgivable¬†breathing room¬†for the wear + tear of¬†everyday life with a family full of boys. We went with¬†the Maddock sofa (estate size) + are loving it 100%.
If you’re interested in checking out the quality in person for a new couch, plug your address¬†into their¬†dealer locator¬†real quick — locations near you will pop right up.¬†I know Z Gallerie, Macy’s, RC Willey + several other local furniture stores carry it as well. The quality simply cannot be beat. Thank you Jonathan Louis Furniture for sponsoring this opportunity! All opinions are completely my own! ¬†xx
SUPRISEEEEE! One of our very favorite brands of allll time is releasing a new to their bucket bike line up! WHITE! WHITE! WHITE! You know my heart loves white. To celebrate, we have teamed up with Madsen Cycles to give a bike away¬†on Instagram. Still time to enter here!¬†Winner gets to choose any color of bike they’d like.¬†
We can’t be on time for church no matter how hard I try.
I know it starts in my head. BUT I STILL CAN’T. I HAVE TRIED SO.HARD. SO.MANY.TIMES.
Week after week. Sunday after Sunday. You can count on us for being late.
We were soooooo close this week, but couldn’t quite pull it off.¬†
Last week was a doooooozy.
Today was just the breath of fresh air I needed to keep going, the Perfect Family Sunday.
We’ve got Spring Break on the calendar this week!!
I’m looking forward to the one on one time with the boys.
