6 things to do in Clearwater Beach, Florida

I’ve been to Florida a few times in my life, but never to Clearwater Beach. I REALLY hope this won’t be my last time, that’s for sure! THE BEACH WAS PERFECT, guys. Like insane. Right across the street from our hotel. I thought it’d be fun to put together a guide as far as what we did while we were there — now that I’ve gone through the 3,000 photos we snapped! Can’t promise this will be the only post from our trip. (Technically it’s already the second. #sueme HERE is a link to the first one.) It’s TOOO PRETTY down there, even if it did rain cats + dogs. Which was a little funny because Roger (our driver) told us it doesn’t everrrrr rain on the coast. He specifically told us not to check the weather app. HA! Didn’t keep us away from the Ocean. Unless those double red flags went up.

Where to stay? We recommend Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach 10 times over! The only thing better than a modern hotel room with a kitchen inside, is GOOOOD HOSPITALITY! Man alive it makes a difference. They greeted us with goodie bags filled with our favorite treats + knew the kids names by the time we left. I managed to lock us out of our room when we walked down for ice cream one night. WHO DOES THIS? The handy man, Cal, had the best attitude. The boys drew him a picture the next day at the pool. One of my favorite memories all trip.
We ordered breakfast in bed, ate at the restaurant there in our hotel + also munched at the bar. The food ALLL across the board was tops. No complaints at all whatsoever.

ORDER THE NACHOS AT THE POOL.
Or don’t.
Because you’ll crave them every day for the rest of eternity.

1. BOOGIE BOARDING at Clearwater Beach

The white beach that we woke up to (directly across the street from Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach) was hands down the best we found! I loved not having to drive to the best beach. TWO FER, as Jon like to call it. (Two for one)

We picked up a couple of boogie boards at the surf shot to the west of the hotel on the second day we were there + kept them the whole trip. We found a family at the pool the night before we left + gave our boards a new home. The best part of the Caribbean is the WARM WATER.  WHOAAAA. I’m used to the West Coast Beaches I guess? This was a nice treat for us!

2. Eat dinner at the Spotted Donkey

THE freaking GUACAMOLE IS LIFE CHANGING!!!!  Legit ate that crap with a spoon! #noshame

3. Walk down the Pier 60 at sunset:
I mean I guess you could play “double double this this” if you insist. Jonah’s choice.

4. Rent a multi-person bike, grab some ice cream

The thing I loved was how close + convienent everything was.
We didn’t need to rent a car.
The few blocks surrounding the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach
kept us busy for the whole week! I’m not just saying that either.

5. Wyndham Grand Spa:

The spa at Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach, was the most relaxing part. Hands down. Traveling with kids isn’t a walk in the park, luckily we talked Mo into coming with us! Jon + I were able to sneak away for a few hours on his birthday, thanks to her help with the boys. I got a hydro facial + a pedi. Then we got a couple’s hot stone massage. *Just don’t forget the code on your locker by the time it’s all over. Write it on your hand if you have to for heck sakes. #notetoself

6. Visit Seaside Aquarium:

We may or may not have went two days in a row!

If you haven’t watched Dolphin Tale (netflix) DO IT!
We got to see Winter in the flesh.
Such a touching story.
Jonah + Rigg fed the dolphins + we watched Winter practice without her prosthetic fin.
The pictures are hanging by their beds as I type this, we looooved it so much.

7. Great Explorations Children’s Museum:

The museum was the only place we arranged a driver (aside from airport transportation). The concierge there at our hotel was super helpful + made it easy.
One of the days it rained cats + dogs, we snuck away to the Children’s Museum.
We could have spent a couple of days here.
Hoping to get back someday to try the feeling cave.z

We truly had the best time.
I love seeing the world through my kids eyes.
We thought we might want to sneak down to Disney
(an hour drive each way)
but had enough fun filling our time getting to know Clearwater! xx

  1. I’m curious how the hotel felt about a picture of your kids walking on the bedside table? It just seems so disrespectful when they obviously comped your stay! Out of the whole post that image just jumped out at me. 🙁

    1. I have the sneeking suspicion that the hotel probably doesn’t care allll that much <3 they’re getting great exposure and the Parrish fam got to go on an awesome vacation. Win, win.
